How to Get the Most From Your Ceramic Coating
Follow a Safe Wash Routine
Use a pH-balanced soap, a quality wash mitt, and the two-bucket method. Start with a thorough rinse, then work top to bottom so grit doesn’t grind into the paint. Refresh your rinse bucket often and swap mitts if they get dirty. We also recommend hand washing at least every 2 years. Gentle wash keeps the surface slick and shining. For daily driven vehicles, we recommend hand washing at least every 2 weeks.
Dry the Right Way
Water spots are the enemy. Rinse with plenty of clean water, then dry with plush microfiber towels or a blower. Blot or glide, don’t scrub. If you see spotting starting, mist a little detail spray as you dry to keep the finish crystal clear. While ceramic coatings help aid against water spotting, water spots can still be persistent. Hence, the need to be hand dried is still required.
Skip the Harsh Stuff
Avoid strong degreasers, high-alkaline soaps, and any household cleaners. They can dull the finish and shorten performance. Stick with products labeled safe for coated cars, and use dedicated wheel and tire cleaners so you’re not dragging residue back onto the paint.
Don’t Use Brush Tunnels
Automatic washes with spinning brushes add marring and cut gloss. Choose touchless if you’re in a pinch, then hand wash soon after to remove leftover film. Your coating will stay slicker and look better for longer.
Tackle Bugs, Tar, and Bird Mess Fast
The sooner you remove contaminants, the less chance they have to mark the surface. Ceramic coatings buy you more time but contaminants are still needed to be removed as quickly as possible. Soften with a dedicated bug or tar remover, then rinse and re-wash the spot. Pat dry and you’re back to the clean, glassy look.
Prevent and Treat Water Spots
Hard water leaves minerals behind. Whenever you can, rinse with filtered water or dry right away. If spots appear, use a coating-safe water spot remover before they bake in. We are just one call away once you get to notice accumulating water spotting. Quick action keeps the finish sharp.
Add Light Maintenance Toppers
A coating-safe spray sealant or silica detailer after washes boosts slickness and helps with drying. Use it every few washes or whenever the surface feels a little grabby. It takes minutes and keeps the look dialed in.
Mind the First-Week Cure
At least one week right after installation, it is good practice to avoid washing and parking under trees or next to sprinklers. If the car gets wet, gently dry it as soon as you can. Letting the coating settle pays off with stronger performance down the road.
Schedule Periodic Checkups
Plan a decon wash or light clay and topper service a couple of times a year - at least every 6-12 months, depending on how often your vehicle is exposed to the elements and where you drive. We’ll remove stubborn film, check the surface, and bring the slick feel back. It’s quick maintenance that keeps results consistent.

FAQs
1) What does a ceramic coating actually do?
It bonds to your paint to create a slick, glossy surface that’s harder for grime, bug guts, and road film to stick to. Water sheets and beads, so rinses are faster and drying is easier. The finish keeps that deep, wet look longer, and regular washes take less effort.
2) How long does it last?
That depends on the coating tier, how you drive, and how you care for it. Entry options can hold up for a couple of years, mid-tier formulas stretch longer, and ours can go many years with the right upkeep. Keep up with gentle washes and smart drying, and you’ll see the longest lifespan.
3) Do you need to polish the car first?
Most vehicles benefit from paint correction before coating. Polishing removes haze and light marring so the surface is clean, level, and ready to bond. You end up locking in a sharper finish, which means better gloss on day 1 and a cleaner look over time.
4) How do I care for my car after it’s coated?
Wash regularly with pH-balanced shampoo, use quality mitts and towels, and avoid harsh cleaners. Dry with soft microfiber to prevent towel marks, and skip drive-through washes with brushes. If you keep the surface clean and use safe techniques, the coating keeps performing and looking great.
5) Will a ceramic coating stop scratches or rock chips?
No. It’s not a force field, and it won’t stop impacts from stones or careless doors. What it does best is make maintenance easier and help the finish stay glossier between washes. For high-impact areas that face debris, ask us about pairing the coating with clear film on the front end.
